What’s New in This Edition

• Completely revised & rewritten. I revisited the book line by line and chapter by chapter to bring the prose, pacing, and character work up to the standards I hold today after nearly forty novels.
• New cover art. The story gets a fresh face that better reflects the tone and grit of Colin McCool’s world.
• Streamlined to focus on the main story. I trimmed and tightened where necessary so the novel moves cleaner and faster, with the core plot and characters front and center.

If you read the original, you’ll recognize the heart of the story — the characters, the snark, the druid magic — but you’ll also find smoother dialogue, stronger beats, and a reading experience that sits more comfortably next to my later work.

A Few Words From the New Introduction

As I wrote in the book’s introduction:

“It’s been nearly ten years since I released Junkyard Druid. When I wrote it, I was coming off a successful run with my THEM post-apocalyptic series and had just published the third title, Counteraction. Strangely, Colin McCool showed up in the middle of that story—uninvited, actually, as characters are sometimes prone to do.”

I created Colin for an earlier YA novel, then he nudged his way into a post-apocalyptic series I was writing. The kid just refused to be ignored. The result was a new world and a new series that, ten years later, still feels alive enough to deserve this careful revision.

For Diehard Fans and Newcomers Both

Longtime readers will find plenty to enjoy — moments you remember, now given new texture — while new readers will get a tighter introduction to Colin, his allies, and the strange, dangerous city he protects (or at least tries to). My goal with this edition was never to erase the original but to preserve its tone and spirit while giving the story the clarity it needed.

Paperback: If you prefer paperbacks or hardcovers, the paperback page will go live a few days before the release of the eBook on Kindle. I’m also working on a special hardcover edition, which I will announce on social media and to my newsletter subscribers when it’s complete.

Audiobook: For audiobook listeners, the book is currently in production. Steven Barnett is recording all new audio narration for this updated edition of the novel. We hope to have it live on Audible, iTunes, and everywhere else audiobooks are sold by December 15th.
