There’s A Storm Brewing in the Druidverse

Where Fiadh Reilly Goes, A Tempest Follows…

If you’ve already spent time in the Druidverse™, you know I don’t let my characters rest for long. Druid Forge ended with Fiadh still breathing—barely—and with something that felt almost like victory for the new druid apprentice…

I’m genuinely pleased that so many of you connected with Fiadh. The reader response has been amazing thus far: 4.8 stars on Kindle, 4.6 on Goodreads, and more than a few messages from readers saying they tore through it in a single sitting. That kind of feedback is what keeps me writing (well, that and my bills).

So, I thought it was time to make Fiadh’s life considerably harder…

What’s Waiting For Readers in Druid Tempest

Druid Tempest picks up where Druid Forge left off, with Fiadh still finding her footing as a druid apprentice—and major players in The World Beneath have taken notice in the worst possible way.

The fae courts have stopped watching from a comfortable distance. Cerberus still wants to recruit her, now more than ever. And, an assassin is rumored to be gunning for the girl.

Unfortunately, Fiadh’s not nearly ready to face this kind of threat.

Of course, Colin and Maureen are still taking their hard-nosed, sink-or-swim approach. After Colin’s disastrous first experience with training apprentices, he’s realized he can’t pamper his pupils if he wants them to learn how to survive.

And Maureen, well… that woman is just tough love, personified.

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, and Fiadh’s about to get thrown in the deep end during a 100-year storm…

As expected, Agent Caruso’s idea of assistance is taking her off the board, but Fiadh’s not having it. The Druid Faction’s solution is assigning her a protector she didn’t want: Bleys Rhys Vaughan, Welsh werewolf alpha, and the most unsettling man she’s ever met.

Long-time readers will know there’s plenty of tension waiting among the Druid Faction and Austin Pack for poor Bleys. I saw him as the perfect wrench to throw in the gears, and man, does he gum them up.

On the Romance End of the Story… Romantasy This Ain’t

I want to be upfront, because I know veteran readers are here for the Druidverse lore. Yet, some newer readers have returned for the slow-burn tension between Fiadh and Lucas.

Obviously, throwing Bleys into the mix is me tapping into that tried-and-true relationship dynamic, the love triangle.

Yet, this is still urban fantasy first. The supernatural politics are there, the stakes are high, and the action doesn’t stop long enough to let anyone have their Oprah moment in peace.

But I’d be lying if I said the push-and-pull between Fiadh, Lucas, and Bleys wasn’t one of the most enjoyable threads I’ve written in the series so far. If you love the kind of charged dynamic that builds tension while setting up comedy beats—and a promise of something more for the MC—you’re going to enjoy this novel.

Also, I’ll say this about Bleys: he was a lot of fun to write. He’s tall, he’s dangerous, he’s got that quiet intensity that makes people take notice when he walks in—and there’s something alluring about him that Fiadh can’t quite put her finger on.

Of course, once Agent Lucas Caruso notices, that cowboy ain’t exactly thrilled.

Yet, that’s all B-story, because the supernatural danger and stakes take center stage in this novel. So, enjoy the fun and games, but be ready for lots of action as well.

The Bigger Picture

There’s also someone from the past moving behind the scenes in Druid Tempest—someone who’s tied to factions that go back to the original Colin McCool series.

Thus, Fiadh’s not just trying to survive an assassin… she’s also working to avoid becoming the catalyst that kicks off a faction war.

No pressure for our girl, right?

P.S. – Production has started on the audiobook for Druid Forge. I found a wonderful narrator by the name of Arielle Noelle, and I know you’re going to love her. Arielle’s slated to produce and narrate the entire series, and other female-led spin-offs I have planned. Stay tuned!

P.P.S. – Look for the pre-order page for the third book in the series, Druid Nova… coming soon!
