Urban Fantasy Author Update for September 2020

Raven's Mark series quoteDang… September snuck up on me like Click, and it’s already time for another urban fantasy author update. I have a full slate today that’s filled with writing and day job stuff, so this is going to be a very brief update.

No complaints though, and for anyone out there who is struggling with joblessness, I feel for you. Hopefully I’ll have another book out soon to provide a brief respite from these crazy, difficult times.

What I’m Reading

I just finished the Raven’s Mark trilogy by Ed McDonald. A reader suggested the books to me, and their recommendation did not disappoint.

This series follows the adventures of a down-on-his-luck mercenary who is in thrall to a god-like, ambiguously beneficent wizard. The characters and settings have a definite Black Company vibe to them, which I particularly enjoyed. If you like your fantasy dark (almost grimdark, but not quite), this is the series for you.

What I’m Watching

I’ve been watching The Social Dilemma on Netflix, and it is eye-opening. This documentary is an exposé on the social media industry, told through interviews with industry insiders who have defected, alternating with dramatizations of a modern family struggling with social media addiction.

If you want to know how society is being blue-pilled by tech companies, go watch it.

What I’m Cooking

I just whipped up this bad-ass quiche. Jealous?

What I’m Writing

I’m still working on Crowley’s first spin-off novel. Although, I might have to set it aside to work on the twelfth Junkyard Druid novel, Druid Master. I’m having fun writing Crowley, but writing in his voice is taking longer than I anticipated. I’ll keep you posted though.

That’s all for now… stay safe and healthy out there!

Just started reading your junkyard druid series. Hooooked. Love them. Blown away by the ending of druid arcana. Can’t wait to find out more about hos mother.

Thanks! I’m working hard on Book 12 and Crowley’s series. Will likely spend October focusing exclusively on Druid Master so I can release it in late October or early November.
